The new musical from the Academy Award-winning songwriters of “Frozen” will tell the story of a socially awkward computer repairman named Dan who becomes attracted to Lindsay, a t-shirt designer. But his overactive imagination keeps getting in the way of a potential relationship.

The plot details of “Up Here” were revealed Friday by the La Jolla Playhouse, where the previously announced musical will have its world premiere in the 2014-15 season. The company also announced three other world-premiere productions for the season, but didn’t provide dates.

“Up Here” is written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez and will be directed by Alex Timbers. The songwriting couple won an Oscar this year for the song “Let It Go” from the Disney animated movie “Frozen.”

The playhouse said that “Up Here” will delve into the overactive imagination of its 30-something protagonist, bringing to life the “circus of judgmental, neurotic, ever-changing characters that rule an ordinary man’s mind.”

The 2014-15 season will also include the new musical “Come from Away,” with a book, music and lyrics by the husband-and-wife team Irene Sankoff and David Hein; the play “Indecent,” co-created by director Rebecca Taichman and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel; and “Blueprints to Freedom: An Ode to Bayard Rustin,” by Michael Benjamin Washington and directed by actress Phylicia Rashad.

“Indecent,” which will be a coproduction with Yale Repertory Theatre, is a new play with music that explores the Broadway debut of Sholem Asch’s “God of Vengeance.”

The playhouse said it will also present “Healing Wars,” a stage piece from choreographer Liz Lerman, at its 2015 Without Walls Festival.
