The American Cinematheque’s Aero Theatre on Sunday screens Sam Peckinpah’s 1973 western, “Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid,” starring Kris Kristofferson, James Coburn and Bob Dylan. The film’s production was turbulent with the director’s self-destructive demons and battles with the studio taking center stage. Peckinpah scholar Paul Seydor will introduce the screening and sign copies of his new book “The Authentic Death and Contentious Afterlife of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid: The Untold Story of Peckinpah’s Last Western Film,” in which he explores the film’s storied history.
