With the success this year of Disney's live-action "Maleficent," starring Angelina Jolie as Sleeping Beauty's nemesis, the studio is releasing Tuesday the Diamond Edition Blu-ray of the 1959 animated classic "Sleeping Beauty." There are several new features on the Blu-ray, including three never-before-seen scenes — "The Fair," featuring an excised character known as the Vulture; "The Curse Is Fulfilled," which finds the evil fairy visiting Princess Aurora; as well as an alternate version of Maleficent's arrival at Aurora's christening. There's also a profile of Eyvind Earle, whom Walt Disney gave the plum assignment of art director on "Sleeping Beauty," the first time he entrusted one artist with the look of one of his animated films.
