BET Awards: Telecast generates nearly 10 million tweets
Sunday night’s BET Awards, telecast from the Nokia Theatre in downtown L.A., were by far the most tweeted-about event of the week, according to rankings from Nielsen’s SocialGuide, which measures Twitter TV activity.
The 12-year-old award show’s broadcast generated nearly 10 million tweets, blowing away last week’s top-tweeted event, Nik Wallenda’s successful attempt to cross the Grand Canyon on a tightrope, which boasted about 1 million.
The second-season premiere of MTV’s “Catfish: The TV Show,” a reality program about online dating, came in second place with 776,155 tweets for the week ended June 30. Social media mainstay “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” took the No. 3 spot.
