ABC’s “Mistresses” returned for the debut of its second season Monday night and posted ratings that were essentially even with its series premiere last year.

The Season 2 opener of the drama about four girlfriends with turbulent lives averaged 4.48 million viewers overall and a rating of 1.2 among key 18- to 49-year-olds, according to early numbers from Nielsen.

That’s flat with the series premiere in 18-49 and up 2% in total viewers. The season opened after an episode of “The Bachelorette” that rose week-to-week to a 1.7 in 18-49.

NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” was the highest rated show of the night in the key demo, up 19% from last week to a 1.9. Right behind was Fox’s “24” reboot, which surged 20% from a week ago to a 1.8, while “MasterChef” was also up, hitting a 1.7.

CBS was in all repeats, except for a “48 Hours” special.

For the night, CBS was the top network in viewers overall, averaging 5.83 million, while Fox won the night in the 18-49 demo with a 1.8, where a ratings point equals roughly 1.3 million viewers.
