Emmys chat: Join in with ‘Jane the Virgin’s’ Jaime Camil on Monday

Share

He’s the TV dad whose vanity is unsurpassed.

Gina Rodriguez may have won the hearts of critics and viewers with her portrayal of Jane Villanueva on the CW’s “Jane the Virgin,” but one of the dramedy’s central scene stealers is Jaime Camil as a telenovela star and Jane’s once-estranged father, Rogelio de la Vega.

Camil has drawn attention for his comic delivery and his portrayal of Rogelio’s hilariously clueless arrogance — not to mention his way with Twitter. And he’ll be stopping by The Times offices on Monday to talk about it all when he joins us for a live chat at 2 p.m. PDT. Hopefully, we can find a suitable staircase for his entrance.

There’s a reason Camil, a Critics’ Choice Award nominee, has embodied the exaggerated persona of a telenovela superstar so well: The Mexican actor is widely known in Latin America for his role in such telenovelas as “La Fea Más Bella” (Mexico’s original “Ugly Betty” series), “Qué Pobres Tan Ricos” (“So Poor Yet So Rich” and “Por Ella Soy Eva” (“For Her, I’m Eva”).

We’ll also be taking your questions, which you can leave in the comments section here or tweet to us using the hashtag #askLATimes.
