Country singer Craig Morgan’s 19-year-old son, Jerry Greer, is missing a day after a boating accident in Tennessee, his family said Monday.

The recent high school graduate — son of the “Wake Up Lovin’ You” singer and his wife of more than 25 years, Karen Greer — was out on Kentucky Lake in Humphreys County, according to the family’s Monday statement. “Recovery efforts to locate him are underway,” it continued. “The family is grateful for everyone’s support and prayers and requests privacy during this difficult time.”

County Sheriff Chris Davis told the Tennessean on Monday that Jerry Greer and a friend were out on the Tennessee River near the lake when they went into the water. The friend resurfaced, but Greer didn’t. Davis told the paper that crews searched through the night and had 20 or 30 boats searching on Monday.

WTVF Channel 5 in Nashville said the emergency call came around 4 p.m. Sunday. Around midday Monday, WTVF was reporting that the search had turned into a recovery mission, and reporter Chris Conte tweeted word from the sheriff that the efforts of about 100 people were about to be slowed by rain.

“Jerry and another man were on a raft being pulled by a boat,” Chief Deputy Rob Edwards told E! News. “They were thrown from the raft and Jerry never resurfaced. He was wearing a life jacket at the time but went under.”

An underwater vehicle was being used to search in an area where the water goes as deep as 15 feet, authorities told the Associated Press.

Country music colleagues expressed support for Morgan, who is 51 and hosts his own show on the Outdoor Channel.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with @cmorganmusic, his family, and the rescue team working tirelessly to find his son,” the Grand Ole Opry tweeted.

“Team Johnson sends our love and prayers to Craig Morgan & his family as they continue to search for their son, Jerry Greer. We are with you,” Jamey Johnson wrote.

“Prayers for my friend @cmorganmusic stay strong brother,” tweeted Chris Janson, and Kelsea Ballerini noted, “my heart is with my friend @cmorganmusic today.”

Morgan and his wife have three sons and a daughter together.
