Heidi Klum threw her annual star-studded Halloween party Friday night for the 15th time -- and some of the best photographs to emerge from the New York City event were of the German supermodel herself.
The 41-year-old “Project Runway” host teased bits and pieces of her Halloween costume on her Instagram account during the day before finally posting the entire look for all to see.
In a process that took five hours, Klum morphed from a blond, makeup-free human being to a beautifully colored butterfly extraordinaire, complete with prosthetics, body paint and lots of makeup.
The mother of four documented her transformation in photos, and posted a time-lapse video to her Instagram account. It’s worth watching more than once.
After putting the final touches on her costume, the party host “flew” to the big bash, staged at Tao nightclub. There, she removed her wings because she couldn’t see or smell very well, she told E! News.
But that didn’t stop her from loving her ensemble. “Someone very special to my heart called me a schmetterling [butterfly in German], so I wanted to be a butterfly this year,” Klum explained. “They’re just so pretty and colorful and I used to love painting butterflies.”
Indeed, Klum looked pretty and colorful as she fluttered her way around her guests. She snapped photos with art curator Vito Schnabel and DJ Questlove, among others.
Also in attendance were musicians Ashanti, Joe Jonas and Zoe Kravitz, as well as actors Michelle Tratchenberg, Ben McKenzie and Tinsley Mortimer.
