Puppeteer Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo on “Sesame Street” for the better part of the last three decades, resigned Tuesday amid allegations of a second sexual relationship with a teenage boy. The development was as much a blow for Clash, whose name was unknown to most Americans until the scandal broke, as for “Sesame Street,” the beloved children’s program that in recent months has become a political football.

Jon Bon Jovi has addressed his daughter Stephanie Bongiovi’s recent heroin overdose, calling the incident “human” and expressing appreciation for fans’ concern. Bongiovi, 19, was arrested a week ago at her Hamilton College dorm after an overdose was reported. She was charged with misdemeanor drug offenses, but the charges were quickly dropped under a New York state law granting immunity to those involved when official help is sought during a life-threatening overdose.

Chatting with Jay Leno on Tuesday about “Liz & Dick,” the new, destined-to-be-a-camp-classic Lifetime movie, Lindsay Lohan seemed nervous in a way that was more excruciating than endearing. She was back to a version of her natural hair color — a tiny step in the right direction — but otherwise there were few outward signs that she’s destined for a comeback. Lohan was evasive when asked about her last-minute cancellation on Barbara Walters, saying only “the timing wasn’t right right now.” When it came to the subject of her just-discovered half-sister and estranged father, she was decidedly less so: “I guess I could give her one word of advice: Good luck with my dad.”

Ariel Winter of “Modern Family” will continue to be under the guardianship of her older sister until a trial is held that will ultimately decide the 14-year-old’s custodial fate, a judge has decided. The young actress’ allegations of emotional abuse by her mother, Chrisoula Workman, were determined to be substantiated, according to a Department of Children and Family Services report that was reviewed Tuesday at a hearing in Los Angeles, L.A. Now reported. Allegations of physical abuse were inconclusive, the report said. Workman denied all allegations of abuse, getting backup from her son, Jimmy Workman, who had previously called the accusations “totally untrue.”

Jenny McCarthy kissed Justin Bieber on Sunday night at the American Music Awards, grabbing him by the neck and then the butt after announcing him as the winner in the rock/pop album of the year category. All in good fun, right? “Wow. I feel violated right now,” said Bieber, laughing off the slurp-stravaganza as he collected one of his three AMAs. “Wow.” Afterward, McCarthy attempted to explain herself ¿ which might have been about as icky as going full cougar in the first place.

Forget Thanksgiving -- it’s actually that time of year again. The time when Barbara Walters reveals the bulk of her 10 most fascinating people list, this time for 2012. Ben Affleck is perhaps the shiniest Hollywood name on the list, which includes One Direction, gymnast Gabby Douglas and “Family Guy” guy Seth MacFarlane. Bringing political oomph are New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who incidentally topped the list in its first year, 1993, when she was first lady. Adding spice will be E.L. James, author of “50 Shades of Grey.”
