Well, clutch your pearls, Bluebell-ians, Jaime King is a mama!
The “Hart of Dixie” actress and director-husband Kyle Newman welcomed their first child, a baby boy, over the weekend, announcing the big news on Instagram and Twitter.
“Nice to meet you! #FATHER #IMADAD #BABYTIME @jaime_king is doing amazing! The most incredible feeling,” Newman wrote Sunday, posting a picture of his child’s small hand wrapped around dad’s finger.
“So happy to welcome our son James Knight Newman to the world! @Jaime_King and I are thrilled beyond belief,” he tweeted on Monday.
James was born Sunday, King’s rep confirmed to People, and weighed in at 7 pounds, 2 ounces.
“Mom and baby are happy, healthy and are doing great,” her representative told the magazine.
King, 34, who plays scheming Southern bell Lemon Breeland on the CW series, appeared to be more than great on Sunday, getting into the celebratory spirit by posting “baby’s first picture,” which happened to be a photo of the iconic scene from Disney’s “The Lion King” in which Rafiki presents Simba atop Pride Rock.
King and Newman married in 2007 after dating for two years, and the pregnancy news came last May, just as King’s series costarring Rachel Bilson was renewed for a third season. In August, King and Newman feted their new arrival with a “Star Wars"-themed baby shower attended by Jessica Alba, Selma Blair, Ashley Madekwe and King’s “Hart of Dixie” costars Rachel Bilson, Wilson Bethel and Claudia Lee.
The baby’s arrival also comes just in time for Monday’s “Hart of Dixie” Season 3 premiere.
