Jennifer Lopez, Casper Smart break up — and it might be for the first time
It appears Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart are over as a couple — but there are no hard feelings. And this might be the first time they’ve broken up.
“It wasn’t anything dramatic and they were on good terms — it just came to a natural end,” a source told People on Wednesday. “They will remain friends and they see each other, but they are not together.”
A rep for Lopez declined to comment, and Smart’s rep didn’t respond immediately to an inquiry from the Los Angeles Times.
The “amiable” split happened weeks ago, the outlet said. The two were photographed together in New York on July 9 at a celebration of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s final “Hamilton” performance. Smart hung out with her in Vegas a week later at one of her shows. Then again, so did her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Lopez and Smart — who’s been going by Beau Casper Smart for a while now — started dating in late 2011 but were said to have split up in June 2014. In May 2015, JLo gave him a shout-out on Instagram, fanning the flames on rumors that had been circulating since March that they were once again an item. Days later, when Ellen DeGeneres asked if she was single, she replied, “I’m kind of not, and I kind of am.”
By January, the 47-year-old singer was fielding questions from Ryan Seacrest about whether she and her onetime backup dancer, 29, were engaged.
“I’m not engaged, and I didn’t know there was rumors either,” she said on DeGeneres’ radio show.
On Wednesday, however, TMZ said the couple in fact never broke up in 2014 but were just keeping things low-key and spending time together. Now, the site said, she ended their couplehood, no matter what his friends might be saying.
