Robert Pattinson’s drastic new ‘do is a head-scratcher

Robert Pattinson debuted an inexplicable haircut that people would prefer to see when he’s coming, rather than when he’s going.

That is, if they care to see it at all.

The “Twilight” alum stepped out in Los Angeles on Thursday, debuting the drastic new ‘do, which featured a tousled bowl cut on top, shaved sides and a rectangle-shaped island of hair going down the back of his head, like a little perfectly symmetrical, reverse-soul patch archipelago.

The 28-year-old Brit attend the 7th GO GO Gala at the Montage Beverly Hills sporting the party-on-top look and a sharp brown suit on the bottom -- and definitely looking like he prematurely got out of the stylist’s chair.

It’s unclear if “The Rover” star got the inexplicable makeover -- er, makeunder -- for a new role or just because. What we do know is that he’s been frequently spotted with his new girlfriend, edgy singer FKA Twigs, real name Tahlia Barnett, who’s been known to take the lion’s share of risks when it comes to fashion.

The pair has been linked since August, and E! News reported that the two were seen cuddling during a concert after-party in Brooklyn this week. Pattinson, whose shaved sides were visible at the time, may have sported the questionable ‘do then, but concealed most of it under a hat.

The scruffy actor is gearing up to film Brady Corbet’s World War I drama “The Childhood of a Leader” -- and last we checked, there weren’t any polygons shaved into people’s heads during that time. He’s already wrapped up filming “Life,” “Queen of the Desert” and “Maps to the Stars,” which are all slated for 2015 release.
