The great gathering of genre fans in the city that never sleeps is officially over. New York Comic-Con has closed its doors after a weekend of surprise comic book cameos, never-before-seen TV premieres and geeky celebrations. But the pictures of the cosplay at NYCC will live on forever, because the East Coast convention goers gave great costume this year. Here’s a collection of a few of our favorite costumes, should you dare to be inspired this Halloween season.

“Stranger Things’ ” Winona Ryder’s character Joyce Byers and son cosplay.

The exceedingly rare, “Hamilton” video game crossover cosplay.

Jessica Jones in the scarcely cosplayed version of her (now retired) alter superhero character Jewel, Luke Cage in Power Man attire, and Marvel’s brand new Iron Man character Riri Williams. Could this possibly be a little bit of fan projecting on the future of the child from Jones and Cage’s comic book coupling? Fingers crossed.

Hodor, holding the door, from the “Game of Thrones” episode “The Door.”

Yellow Diamond from “Steven Universe.”

Image Comics’ “Saga” characters take a family photo.

X-Men’s shapeshifting Mystique in mid-shift.

Jack Nicholson’s Joker henchmen from the 1989 “Batman” movie. So retro.

The Eye of Sauron and the ring. Two great tastes that taste great together.

“Black Panther’s” comic book author Ta-Nehisi Coates and comic book character Power Man with the classic tiara.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” Luke Skywalker complete with robot arm.

Kiki from Hayao Miyazaki’s “Kiki's Delivery Service.”

The many cartoon-inspired X-Men.

A “Game of Thrones” family and their dragons. Note the attention to detail as baby Drogon is unchained.

Harley Quinn boldy goes where few Quinns have gone before. Probably.

Fancy 1950s channeling Phoenix from “X-Men.”

There were so many marvelous Ms. Marvels and Captain Marvels including this Ms. Marvelthis Ms. Marvel and Tony Stark meet up, and the Captain Marvel with the almost perfectly re-created comic book hair.

It was truly something to marvel at, especially when they pose together as they did here:

The new “Powerpuff Girls” certainly have grown.

Aquaman and his seahorse Storm.

Emperor Kuzco from Disney’s “The Emperor’s New Groove” is a deep Disney cosplay cut.

The Morrigan from Image Comics’ "The Wicked + The Divine."

Ickis from Nickelodeon’s “Aaahh!!! Real Monsters” and McThor.

And finally a DC comic book characters cosplay meet up. Because it’s not a comic book convention without a massive cosplay meet up.
