‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ says goodbye to Chris Pratt and hello to San Diego Comic-Con

James Gunn, director of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” had a special video message for Marvel fans on the day star Chris Pratt wrapped filming the sequel: They’re coming to Comic-Con.

Pratt, who plays Peter Quill (also known as Star-Lord), has finished filming the sequel to the Marvel movie “Guardians of the Galaxy” and in a recorded farewell to the crew with Gunn praised the cast and dropped a little announcement.

“We, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,’ are coming to San Diego Comic-Con this year,” Gunn announced. “We’re going to be there, I’m going to be there, Chris Pratt is going to be there, a bunch of the gang is going this year and we’re going to show you something pretty cool.”

This is good news for comic fans. Just recently 20th Century Fox stated it would not be participating in the convention this year. But Marvel bringing “GOTG V2” is a crowd pleaser; the sizzle reel for the first film shown back in 2013 at the convention blew the ceiling off the legendary Hall H and convinced a lot of fans to take a chance on a movie that stars a tree and a talking raccoon.

Does this mean “Doctor Strange” and other upcoming Marvel movies could also be appearing at the convention? There’s no official word yet, but Marvel rarely goes to San Diego empty-handed.

San Diego Comic-Con will run July 21-24. We’ll see you there.
