Superhero casting continues to come at super speed, the latest at a wind-aided pace with CBS' "Supergirl" casting Iddo Goldberg as Dr. T.O. Morrow, better known as Red Tornado. Plus there's a super new "Supergirl" video that reveals her origin story.

Like Vision, the artificial life form played by Paul Bettany in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," Red Tornado is an android whose origins were malevolent but who has since turned into a powerful addition to a super group -- in this case, the Justice Society of America and then the Justice League.

The photo released (above) is hauntingly similar to that of Bettany's Vision, and even Oscar Isaac's Apocalypse in the upcoming "X-Men: Age of Apocalypse."

In short, created by a scientist who schemed to take down the JSA, the android body of Red Tornado was brought to life by a sentient storm that gave the android an incredible wind power, speed and strength -- at least, based on the comic book version. The show changes him a bit, using this description: "Red Tornado is the most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City -- including the people Supergirl cares about most." Still works.

That wasn't the only tidbit to come from "Supergirl." Recently, a new featurette that spells out the history of Kara Zor-El was released. In it, we see Kara as a little girl and learn a bit more about what she had to go through growing up. We also get some idea of what the behind-the-scenes creators think about the character and her journey.

Goldberg joins Dean Cain, Helen Slater and David Harewood as additions to the show's core cast, which includes Melissa Benoist as Kara/Supergirl, Chyler Leigh as her sister Alex, Mehcad Brooks as Superman's best friend James Olsen and Calista Flockhart as media mogul Cat Grant. The casting of Red Tornado was teased by writer/executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, who also mentioned that the show would be introducing Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan Tatum), General Sam Lane and Non, the mute brutish "Superman II" villain played by Jack O'Halloran.
