Charles Gaines’ Manifestos Scores In conjunction with the Hammer’s ongoing biennial exhibition series celebrating L.A. artists, this evening of art and music focuses on Gaines’ ambitious multimedia installation “Manifestos.” Composer-arranger Sean Griffin will conduct a six-piece ensemble in the first live performance of the artist’s compositions, which translate four 20th-century revolutionary manifestoes into music, using methods inspired by avant-garde composers such as John Cage. Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Blvd., Westwood. 7 p.m. Free. Parking $3. (310) 443-7000. hammer.ucla.edu.

The Apple Sisters: Hooray for Hollywoodland The wacky musical comedy trio sends up the TV-obsessed Hollywood of 1943 with their messy brand of slapstick and numbers such as “California or Bust,” “The Man Song” and “Ring, Ring Ring.” Special guests include Jason Ritter and Kate Micucci. Largo. 366 N. La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles. $25. 8 p.m. (310) 855-0350. https://www.largo-la.com

MUSIC

Liz Phair After releasing the experimental “Funstyle” album online last summer (to get an idea, she rapped on it), Phair parted ways with her record company, and hit the road to tour the States with the new set of left-field material. Catch the alt-rock muse at the Troubadour as she gears up for the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas — she still has a good take on “Divorce Song” in her. Troubadour, 9081 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood. 8 p.m. $25. (310) 276-6168. https://www.troubadour.com

MOVIES

The Man With F.E.E.E.T. This 3-D-enhanced comedy adventure forsakes the high technology of Hollywood movies and instead makes use of the View-Master, the old-school children’s toy for looking at stereoscopic images. Audience members equipped with the devices will view and click along to a staged reading featuring a live soundtrack and a lively story following Jack Strider, whose gadget-enabled shoes help him take down a dangerous international weapons smuggler. Downtown Independent, 251 S. Main St., L.A. 8 and 9:30 p.m. $20. (213) 617-1033. https://www.downtownindependent.com
