Keri Russell ‘fine’ after burglars invade NYC home while she slept
Keri Russell is fine after a burglar broke into her duplex while she was sleeping Wednesday morning.
“The break-in did happen,” the “Felicity” alum’s rep told People. “Everyone is fine, and Keri sends her thanks to the police.”
Burglars broke into the “Austenland” actress’ Brooklyn Heights apartment and made off with a laptop, jewelry and a purse at about 3 a.m., according to the Associated Press.

The incident took place while the 37-year-old was sleeping in her basement bedroom; however, Russell woke up to footsteps and voices upstairs and called 911. It’s unclear if her husband Shane Deary, two young children or anyone else was in the home at the time of the break-in.
New York Police Department officers said that Russell discovered that a window and front door were open and that items were missing.
Later, a 70-year-old neighbor called 911 after finding a burglar inside her home, the New York Post said, and police then arrested Ronald Swindell, 50, and Steffon Swindell, 19, according to the Post and New York Daily News. The pair have been described as either a father-and-son or uncle-and-nephew team who are now being looked at as potential suspects in Russell’s break-in.
TMZ reported that the arrest happened several blocks away and Russell’s stolen items included a Filson handbag, a laptop computer and a necklace (other reports said earrings may have been pilfered as well).
Russell, a Golden Globe winner who is currently starring in the FX drama “The Americans,” described the NYPD as “awesome” following the incident.
“They’re bringing my stuff back right now. When does that ever happen?” Russell told the New York Post while on set a few hours later.
“The New York City cops were awesome! Everyone is fine. Thank you for your concern,” she added.
