The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced that Cate Blanchett and Ralph Fiennes will be honored with gala tribute events during the upcoming New York Film Festival.

Fiennes and Blanchett appeared together onscreen in the 1997 film “Oscar and Lucinda.”

The Oct. 2 tribute for Blanchett comes as she has been receiving raves for her work in Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine,” with her performance already considered among the front-runners for this year’s lead actress Oscar. (Which may make her stop at the NYFF part of a long march of awards appearances for her in the coming months.) She previously won a supporting actress Oscar for her role as Katharine Hepburn in “The Aviator.”

Blanchett also has a role in George Clooney’s upcoming “The Monuments Men.” With a December release date, it would seem within the realm of possibility, though perhaps unlikely, that “Monuments” could be shown as a surprise preview during the festival, as “Hugo” and “Lincoln” were in recent years.

The Fiennes tribute will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 9, in conjunction with a screening of his latest film as director, “The Invisible Woman,” previously announced as part of the festival’s main slate. The film stars Fiennes as Charles Dickens. Based on the book by Claire Tomalin and adapted by “Iron Lady” screenwriter Abi Morgan, the film tells the story of Dickens and his young mistress, played by Felicity Jones.

A two-time Oscar nominee as an actor, Fiennes previously directed a 2011 adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Coriolanus.”

The New York Film Festival runs from Sept. 27 to Oct. 13.
