A$AP Rocky reportedly arrested in scuffle with amateur photographers

Like his video alter-ego JFK, the Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky has to deal with paparazzi. But he may want to reconsider his reported tactics for engaging them after an incident in New York on Thursday, when a pair of passers-by tried to snap his photo on the street while the rapper was arguing with a third, unidentified person.

According to reports, the rapper (Born Rakim Mayers), then allegedly started fighting with the photographers, allegedly leaving cuts and bruises that required one of them to be treated in a nearby hospital. TMZ said the rapper was arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted robbery (though it’s uncertain what items may have been taken). The hip-hop gossip site KarenCivil.com has what appear to be photos of the incident, with Rocky and a shirtless man handcuffed next to a police car.

Up to this point it has been a banner year for the rising star, after the 2011 release of his breakthrough “LiveLoveA$AP” mixtape, signing to RCA, a well-received Coachella performance and a nomination for best new artist at the BET Awards.
