‘Chris Carter’s British Invasion’ bows April 7 on Sirius XM

Longtime “Breakfast With the Beatles” host Chris Carter will expand the musical scope of his weekly Sirius XM satellite radio presence with a new show, “Chris Carter’s British Invasion,” drawing from a half century of British rock and pop beginning Sunday, April 7.

The three-hour show will continue airing on Little Steven’s Underground Garage Channel 21, created and produced by guitarist, singer and actor Steve Van Zandt of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.

“As listeners already know, the British Invasion of 1964 to 1968 is the heart of the Underground Garage format here on SXM 21,” Van Zandt said in a statement, “but this will be our first show dedicated to the music and era that defines our identity.”

Carter told Pop & Hiss on Wednesday, “I just want to thank Little Steven for allowing me to stay in his Underground Garage and allowing me the opportunity to expand my weekly playlist to not only the music of the Beatles but to the artists they influenced from 1963 right up to today….

“Any station that condones a set of songs featuring the likes of the Kinks, the Move, David Jones & the Lower Third, Oasis, Mott the Hoople and the Beatles is a place I want to live forever,” said Carter, who has been hosting the terrestrial radio version of “Breakfast With the Beatles” since 2001. It airs at 9 a.m. Sundays on KLOS-FM (95.5).

“British Invasion” will go out Sunday mornings at 6 Pacific time (9 a.m. Eastern), with an repeat Sundays at 9 p.m. on the West Coast (midnight Eastern time).

“Chris Carter’s British Invasion will be an exciting addition to our weekend lineup of music programming for the generation that lived it and for those who missed it,” Sirius XM President and Chief Content Officer Scott Greenstein said in a statement. “There is no one better than Chris Carter to guide SiriusXM listeners nationwide through the hits and album tracks from one of the most vibrant, groundbreaking, and fun musical periods in rock.”

Update at 5:17 p.m.: An earlier edition of this post said the repeat airing of “Chris Carter’s British Invasion” would be at 9 p.m. Mondays. It will go out at 9 p.m. Sunday evenings.
