Country music’s women through the years

From the likes of Kacey Musgraves and Caitlin Rose, a new generation of young female country singer-songwriters has taken to the stage since Loretta Lynn charmed the globe with hard-knock love songs like “Fist City.” Here’s look a their careers and how each has made her mark.

Ashley Monroe

A Nashville veteran whose 2007 album “Satisfied” was lost in a record-label shuffle, Monroe broke through to a wide audience in 2011 as a member of Miranda Lambert’s Pistol Annies side project.
