Isaiah ‘Ikey’ Owens died of a heart attack, his representatives say

Keyboardist Isaiah “Ikey” Owens, who was found dead in his hotel room on Tuesday, died from a heart attack, according to his representatives.

“The coroner has determined that Ikey Owens died from a heart attack the morning of Oct. 14 at approximately 4 am. The only drugs found in his room were a small amount of marijuana,” the statement read.

Owens, 38, was the keyboardist in Jack White’s backing band and was on tour with White in Mexico. He was found in his hotel room in Puebla on Tuesday.

White’s label, Third Man, announced Owens’ death on its website.

“We will miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist,” the statement read in part.

A native of Long Beach -- where he played with the Long Beach Dub All Stars -- White was the founder of the Free Moral Agents and a member of the Mars Volta and De Facto.

The remaining dates of White’s tour in Mexico have been canceled.
