Jane’s Addiction and Empire of the Sun will headline the 2014 Sunset Strip Music Festival in September.

Organizers of the West Hollywood street fest are expected to make an official announcement on Monday that the pioneering alternative rock band will kick off the festival when it is honored with the annual Elmer Valentine Award on Sept. 19.

Jane’s Addiction joins a list of recipients that include Joan Jett, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, the Doors and original Sunset Strip venue owners Valentine, Lou Adler and Mario Maglieri (the powers behind iconic haunts Whisky A Go Go, the Roxy and Rainbow Bar & Grill) when they are feted with the award at the invitation-only event hosted at the House of Blues.

Following the induction ceremony, Jane’s Addiction -- whose first live performance happened at the Roxy in 1985 -- will topline the first night’s bill on Sept. 20.

Failure, Cold War Kids, Crosses, Minus the Bear, Kaiser Chiefs, the Birds of Satan, Nightmare and the Cat, Beware of Darkness and Say Say are also on the first day’s lineup.

Electronic act Empire of the Sun will close the festival on Sept. 21. The Australian synth-pop dance outfit tops a bill that includes Mayor Hawthorne, Iration, Big Data, Big Freedia, We Came as Romans, Nostalghia, Fenech-Soler and Tove Lo.

Additional performers are expected to be announced for the festival that unfolds at the Sunset Strip’s Whisky A Go Go, the Roxy and Viper Room, as well as multiple outdoor stages that block off a swath of Sunset Boulevard.

Tickets for the 2014 Sunset Strip Music Festival are on sale now through Eventbrite. Single-day tickets are $75, with two-day festival passes going for $125. VIP packages range from $149 to $499.
