Two members of British boy band One Direction have been caught on video joking about marijuana while in a vehicle and sharing a rolled-up cigarette of some kind while on tour in Peru.

The U.K.’s Daily Mail Online has posted the video in which Louis Tomlinson, 22, says: “So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days.”

Tomlinson also quips about 21-year-old bandmate Zayn Malik’s “two-hour intense warm-up regime before every show, just to get himself in the zone. One very, very important factor to Zayn’s warm-up, of course is Mary Jane herself. In fact, I’m presenting it to him now for some fantastic singing.”

After passing the cigarette to Malik, Tomlinson asks, “How is it, Zayn?” Malik replies, “Nice.” An unidentified male voice asks, “Are we allowed to talk contraband in this?”

When a police officer on a motorcycle passes their vehicle, Tomlinson says, “He’s having a look. He’s thinking, ‘I’m sure I can smell an illegal substance in there.’ And he’s hit the nail on the head.”

The Daily Mail report notes that in Peru, possession of marijuana is not punishable if used for personal and immediate consumption in quantities of less than eight grams.

The issue, however, could become problematic for the group when it is time for One Direction’s Where We Are tour to return to the U.S. this summer, including three shows at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena slated for Sept. 11-13.

A representative for the band said Wednesday, “The matter is in the hands of our lawyers.”
