As the nation observes the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks this weekend, cultural groups around Southern California are offering a slate of performances and concerts in commemoration of the tragedy. Here’s a select list.

“Water” by Eiko & Koma, 8:30 p.m. Friday and Sunday

The celebrated performance duo presents the West Coast premiere of their water-themed piece dedicated to the Sept. 11 tragedy. The performance, featuring music by Robert Mirabal, will take place in and around the Skirball’s reflecting pool.

“Remembrance: 9.11: An Evening of Remembrance,” 4:30 p.m. Sunday

The Angeles Chorale and the Cathedral Choir will perform pieces selected by conductor John Sutton, including Fauré’s “Requiem.”

“What the Moon Saw, or I Only Appear to Be Dead,” Friday through Oct. 9

This new play by Stephanie Fleischmann explores a series of interlocking stories, each focused on an aspect of Sept. 11.

The Bach Collegium San Diego performs Mozart’s “Requiem,” 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday

This tribute performance features a version of Mozart’s unfinished masterpiece completed by Robert Levin.

“My Child — Mothers of War,” 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday

A staged reading of Angeliki Giannakopoulos’ play about mothers whose sons have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Featuring Shohreh Aghdashloo, Elizabeth Peña, Jean Smart, Lynn Whitfield and more. The reading is a benefit for the Fisher House Program.

“Windows on the World,” 8 p.m. Monday

This reading of the play by Colette Keen will feature Noah Wyle, Virginia Madsen, Gale Harold, Mike Farrell, Catherine Hicks and more. Proceeds will benefit the Blank Theatre’s new play development program.
