Nature: This new episode takes a close look at the wolverine, one of the most efficient and resourceful carnivores on Earth (8 p.m. KOCE).

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Kathryn Erbe guest stars in this new episode of the procedural crime drama. Mariska Hargitay, Dann Florek and Ice-T also star (9 p.m. NBC).

Supernatural: Series star Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean, directed this new episode, which finds Dean and Sam (Jared Padalecki) investigating a series of murders in which the victims all received transplants from the same donor (9 p.m. KTLA).

Nova: The episode “Forensics on Trial” examines the reliability of modern forensics, including the analysis of fingerprints, bite marks, ballistics, hair and tool marks (9 p.m. KOCE).

Suburgatory: In the season premiere, Tessa (Jane Levy) returns after a summer with her grandmother (9:30 p.m. ABC).
