Actress Katey Sagal can be heard crooning regularly on the soundtrack of the FX drama “Sons of Anarchy,” but the acting has really been a long detour from her first love, singing. And to remind people of that, she’s releasing her first album in nine years, titled “Covered.”

Back in her pre-”Married ... With Children” days, Sagal had a budding singing career, performing as a backup performer with Tanya Tucker and Bob Dylan, according to Billboard. She released her first album, “Moon Over Brooklyn,” in 1976. She’s released two other albums in the years since and had tracks on the “Sons of Anarchy” soundtrack release. But for the most part, the singing has taken a back seat to the acting.

Sagal’s husband, “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter, has given her many opportunities to get back to her love with her cover songs played over several montages in the series. Finally, it seems inspiration has struck.

Her new album features Sagal covering a variety of songs, including Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’” and Jackson Browne’s “For a Dancer.”

For those who don’t watch “Sons of Anarchy” or never noticed Sagal’s work on the soundtrack, here’s a sample from the new album.
