Designers announced for Saturday’s inaugural Open Runway event

Share

The five Los Angeles-area “pre-emerging designers” competing in Saturday’s first-ever Open Runway event at Hollywood’s Couture Los Angeles nightclub have been announced. According to the Los Angeles Fashion Council’s Kelsi Smith, the inaugural crop of catwalk contenders will include labels Sabel, Veltimera, Undercover Lover, Samantha Eng and the Paulettes.

Each label will showcase up to 12 looks from current and previous collections, with one look from each participant going to the organization’s Facebook page where it can be voted on by the public. The designer with the most votes will move forward to compete (with winning designers from the July and August competitions) to a final September walk-off, with the ultimate winner getting a complimentary spot on the Los Angeles Fashion Council’s run of shows for the spring 2014 collections taking place in October.

Unlike most of the runway events in Los Angeles, this one is open to the public, so RSVPs (which can be made through the event’s Facebook page) are encouraged.
