Duckie Brown showed its spring and summer 2015 collection at Industria Superstudio in the Meatpacking District here on Sept. 4 during New York Fashion Week.

The inspiration: The Duckie design duo of Steven Cox and Daniel Silver don’t like to share their seasonal inspiration (they don’t even like to be asked the question), but since the show invite prominently featured a full-length photo of cane-carrying octogenarians wearing high-waisted trousers, we couldn’t help but think the style of the AARP set was somewhere on the mood-board.

The look: Loose-fitting ultra-highwaisted trousers, short sleeve button-front shirts with extra-large pockets and lots and lots of bucket hats. While playing with proportion has always been a Duckie Brown signature, the range of long shorts that came down the catwalk (in plaid, in khaki, in a shiny gingham and even blue glitter) keyed into what has become one of the prevailing menswear trends of the season -- a bumper crop of extra roomy pants that end at or just below the knee.

The color palette was rooted in muted grays, whites and khakis with a couple of pale pink pieces and a pop or two of the aforementioned blue glitter. Plaids and solids made up the bulk of the collection with a few striped pieces thrown in for good measure.

The verdict: The perfect option for the fashion-forward guy looking for a collection to grow old with.
