Urban Outfitters is opening its first Malibu store this week with a days-long grand opening party.

The 10,075-square-foot store officially opens at 10 a.m. Thursday at 3806 Cross Creek Road in the Malibu Country Mart. Throughout the day, until closing at 9 p.m., there are to be various in-store events and promotions, including a DIY terrarium workshop, social media contests and giveaways.

On Friday, the Urban Outfitters courtyard is set to be the scene of a screening from 9 to 11 p.m. of “Sunsine Daydream,” a 1972 music documentary about the Grateful Dead.

From 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Urban Outfitters employees are teaming up with the Surfrider Foundation for a cleanup at Surfrider Beach. In addition, the store plans to give 10% of proceeds from its first three days in business to the foundation.

[Updated: The concert date is Aug. 24, not Aug. 17, as previously reported.] Later, Urban Outfitters and Converse are presenting an afternoon of food, beer and music from noon to 5 p.m. at the store’s parking lot. The event is to include live performances by Bleached at 2 p.m. and by Dum Dum Girls at 3 p.m.

Shop with help from fashion bloggers at a Back to School fall fashion event at the Americana at Brand from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Hanna Beth Merjos of the What She Wore blog is scheduled to give out tips at Forever 21 and Bethany Struble of Snakes Nest is to be at Madewell at the mall, 889 American Drive, Glendale.

Fashion blogs Haute Pink Pretty, Sydne Style and Walk in Wonderland have organized a fashion and beauty charity flea market planned from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the courtyard at Kravetz P.R., 822 La Cienega, Los Angeles. All proceeds are to be donated to the Farley Project, NKLA and Dress for Success. Cash only.

Thread Crawl, a weeklong shopping promotion scheduled to run Aug. 19-Aug. 25 in a variety of L.A. neighborhoods, has partnered with a number of retailers to offer discounts of up to 70% off to shoppers who purchase Thread Crawl tickets for $17 each. Ticketholders will also have entry to several special events during the week. Organizers have pledged to donate $2 for each ticket sold to City of Hope. Tickets and more information on participating merchants are available on threadcrawl.com.

Openings

Stacey Todd plans to open a new location in West Hollywood on Saturday with wine, cocktails, churros and tacos from noon to 7 p.m. The boutique will feature a display of photography shot and curated by Randee St. Nicholas. The new shop is at 454 N. Robertson.

Pop-ups

Toms is debuting three new styles of sunglasses that will be available only on the company’s pop-up cart at the Americana at Brand, 889 Americana Way, Glendale. The styles are to go on sale starting Thursday for $98-$139 a pair. For every pair of sunglasses sold, Toms donates aid to help a person in need restore eyesight through eyewear or medical treatment.

Farasha Boutique plans to host a pop-up at the Hotel Casa Del Mar over the weekends of Aug. 17 and 18 and Aug. 24 and 25. The shop will feature Krysia Renau jewelry, Again clothing and Jia Collection the first weekend and Jia Collection and Adolfo Sanchez the second weekend. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Casa Del Mar, 1910 Ocean Way, Santa Monica.
