Haim, Pusha T, Jhene Aiko and Charli XCX to perform at Red Bull’s 30 days in L.A.
Music festivals usually end when summer fades but Red Bull is just getting started with its annual concert series filled with some fashion industry favorites in Los Angeles.
For its third annual Red Bull Sound Select Presents: 30 Days in L.A., the energy drink purveyor-turned-arts promoter has rounded up Haim, Pusha T, Jhené Aiko, Charli XCX and the Afropunk Festival to entertain the ears and eyes of fans in various venues across the world’s entertainment capital in November.
From the set by Sampha and Kelsey Lu inaugurating the monthlong series on Nov. 1 at The Palace Theatre to the closing night on Nov. 30 with Nick Murphy (formerly known as Chet Faker), River Tiber and Ayo Olatunji at The Theatre at Ace Hotel, the musical genres and fashion tastes of the 60-plus performers run the gamut.
Renowned equally for her dark tresses, bold brows and booming voice, Charli XCX has leapt from the music world to design tie-ups and ads with Boohoo.com and Make Up For Ever. The statuesque sisters in Haim — Alana, Danielle and Este Haim, who are also members of Taylor Swift’s squad — are familiar with the stylish set. Their flirtations in fashion included sitting in the front row of a Chloé fashion show in Paris and spinning tunes at Fendi’s flagship in Beverly Hills. Aiko is also a big believer of celebrity fashion collaborations, having worked with brands such as Lovers + Friends, Neff and Teva.
Other performers include Pusha T, Charlotte Day Wilson, Nicole Dollanganger, Bibi Bourelly and an all-female bill representing up-and-comers from Chile’s pop scene. Red Bull is also hosting parties and mini-festivals during the month with partners such as Stones Throw Records and Skrillex’s OWSLA.
As another outlet for self-expression, Red Bull is including Afropunk’s Fancy Dress Ball in its lineup on Nov. 20 at the Park Plaza Hotel. If the New York edition of Afropunk’s music and arts festival in late August can serve as a template, partygoers in L.A. will witness bold interpretations of punk style seen through a multicultural lens.
