Alpha’s peripatetic pop-up to summer in downtown L.A.

Alpha: Gear for Gent’s Darren Gold has brought his pop-up-apalooza to downtown Los Angeles for the summer, setting up his traveling road show shop-in-shop and its curated collection of gifts, gear and garb for guys inside the former Danelli Suits store at Los Angeles and 9th streets.

The recently renovated storefront also happens to be wholesale fashion showroom Park L.A.’s new Seven Points concept space, which means Alpha will be selling merchandise from some of Park’s clients (Goorin Bros., Sperry Top-Sider and Shades of Grey to name just a few) as well as Alpha’s usual assortment (as well as a few exclusives to the location such as DTLA-branded candles bearing phrases like: “I Like Going Downtown,” and “I Don’t Go East of Figueroa.”)

The downtown stint (which we’re told sports an “urban nautical vibe”) is the latest in a string of pop-up retail locations for Gold since shuttering his permanent bricks-and-mortar men’s boutique in April 2012, including West Hollywood, 3rd Street in Los Angeles, Palm Springs and, in what may be the ultimate achievement in pop-uppetry -- a pop-up location inside Satine’s recently opened Manhattan Beach pop-up shop.
