Angel City parties this weekend with art, music, and, of course, beer

They grow up so fast; downtown’s destination brewery is celebrating its first anniversary with games, music, art, and of course beer at the 2nd Annual Heritage Arts and Music Festival.

When Angel City Brewery first opened their Arts District public house, they threw their first Heritage Fest as a way to kick off a summer of art and music at their sprawling brewery. The brewery has grown a lot in the last year, and they’ve refined their core beers, released some creative, unique brews (Avocado Kolsch, Mexican Cola Beer), and opened the brewery’s mezzanine lounge.

The Heritage Festival will be held on Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m. at the brewery, and features a long list of activities, bands and art exhibits, along with a beer garden, food trucks, beer popsicles, brewery tours, and specialty keg tappings throughout the day (including Imperial Tart Cherry, Mexican-Style Cola Ale, French Sip, and Imperial Chai Stout).

The festival is held in partnership with the DO ART Foundation, an “arts organization that facilitates projects that inspire creative expression within our society.” Brewery director Alan Newman says: “We hope to hold this party every year as a way to both celebrate downtown and say thank you to all our friends and fans – without whom, literally, we would not exist. So thanks! And come party with us!”

Newman, a craft beer industry veteran, is known to throw some great parties, and the Heritage Festival looks to be quite the blow-out. Admission is free, and the brewery is just a few blocks from the Little Tokyo Gold Line station (you’ll even get $1 off your first pint if you take the bus or the train to the event).
