Dustin Hughes screens two short documentary films on Nov. 9 featuring baker Mark Stambler and distiller Mo Heck, who create distinctly different goods from one common ingredient: grain. “Bread” explores the craft of Los Angeles breadmaker Stambler, who helped draft and pass California’s Cottage Food Law. “Vodka” follows Heck, who became a distiller and founded Project V Distillery & Sausage Co. in Woodinville, Wash., using wheat grown on a farm that’s been in her family since the 1800s. Tastings accompany the screening, followed by a discussion. 7 p.m. Atwater Crossing, 3245 Casitas Ave., Los Angeles. RSVP online at www.eventbrite.com/event/8988453707.
