City Tavern brings craft beer and cocktails to FIGat7th

Share

Culver City pub City Tavern is to open a new location at FIGat7th in January, becoming the latest restaurant to debut at the downtown shopping complex. The planned City Tavern will be twice the size of the original, with a cocktail lounge and larger patio.

An expanded menu of comfort-food dishes such as fried chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce and grilled cheese made with Southern-style pimento cheese will be overseen by culinary director Jessica Christensen.

A new “chilled” section will include poke-style albacore, house-smoked salmon belly and oysters and crudo. Other new additions? A pastrami burger with house-cured and smoked pastrami, aged Swiss, arugula and whole-grain mustard aioli, and an 18-ounce dry-aged ribeye. Randy Montoya (Tracht’s, Eva and most recently Sadie) will be chef de cuisine.

With its beer and cocktails and events such as pint nights and beer dinners with notable brewers, City Tavern is expected to bring a nightlife component to FIGat7th. The restaurant’s management plans to open first for happy hour and dinner, with lunch to follow.

City Tavern joins others at the shopping center’s TASTE dining concourse, including Paul Shoemaker’s Juicy Lucy, Oleego by Parks BBQ, Mendocino Farms, Sprinkles and most recently Jimmy Shaw’s Loteria Grill and sandwich shop Torta Co.
