For this week’s Jenn and Tonic video, we’re taking you back to the golden age of travel at Now Boarding in West Hollywood. Think three-martini lunches and a time when people dressed up to get on a plane.

At Now Boarding, there’s a cocktail called the Bottle to Throttle. It’s named for the period of time between a pilot’s last drink and when he can get in the cockpit. The libation is definitely a strong one.

In the video above, bartender Sam Wickham demonstrates how to make the drink. If you’d like to try making it at home, the recipe is available below.

BOTTLE TO THROTTLE

Makes 1 drink

1/2 ounce Luxardo

3/4 ounce Bianco vermouth

2 ounces Reyka vodka

Stir together over ice, then strain into a chilled martini glass rinsed or spritzed with Absinthe. Serve with a flamed orange peel.
