The Shelby is now open on West 3rd Street with chef Sascha Lyon, the Balthazar/Pastis vet who helped open La Brea’s Commerson in 2016, in the kitchen. Salads, dry-aged steaks and oysters on the half shell with craft beer vinegar mignonette share a menu with classic and original cocktails.

On Jan. 7, Simonette, a French all-day bistro, opened at Palihotel Culver City, a new boutique hotel from the group behind the Palihouse properties. A charbroiled chicken restaurant named Big Daddy’s Kick’n Chicken recently reopened in Inglewood after a 2005 fire at its flagship led to the closure of all four locations.
