Food FYI: Women called ‘fat girls’ on restaurant receipt

Share

Three women who dined at Chilly D’s Sports Lounge in Stockton, Calif., received a bill identifying them as “fat girls,” and a server at the restaurant located inside the Cameo Club Casino has been suspended, says Fox News.

The women had dinner at Chilly D’s last week and were shocked to see that “fat girls” had been typed in on the receipt by a restaurant staffer, according to the report.

“I got the bill, and I was like, ‘Why does the receipt say fat girls?’” said one of the diners, Christina Duran. She showed her friends the bill after they thought she was joking.

The women questioned their server, who denied involvement and said that another colleague must have been the one who had entered “fat girls” into the restaurant’s billing system. A manager apologized and at first reduced their bill by 25%, then by 50% after the women protested, reports say. The women declined the discounts, paid their bill and left, UPI says.

Christina Huerta, one of the three women, took a photo of the receipt, and their story spread with the help of social media. Supporters of the women and the server have posted their opinions on the casino’s Facebook page. The restaurant hasn’t commented.

Earlier this year, LAist posted about a Burger King employee that identified a customer with the racial slur “chinitos” on a receipt and a Chick-fil-A worker who referred to Asian customers as “Ching” and “Chong.”
