Share

Saturday marked the first night of the Jewish holiday Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights. During Monday morning’s #Weekendeats chat on Twitter, participants shared their recipes for Hanukkah fare. Here are the highlights:

Samantha Ferraro from the blog the Little Ferraro Kitchen, one of the winners of our 2012 Holiday Cookie Bake-Off, shared her recipe for ruby red beet latkes with cumin, and the blog Mango and Tomato shared a recipe for tri-colored latkes made with potatoes, sweet potatoes and beets and served with horseradish cream.

For you traditionalists, Anna Berman from the blog Snacking in the Kitchen shared her recipe for classic potato latkes and Carol Sacks shared a photo of her latkes topped with creme fraiche and gravlax.

And what would Hanukkah be without doughnuts? Foods made with oil, such as potato latkes and doughnuts, are meant to be eaten during the holiday. Shulie Madnick shared a doughnut article with doughnut recipes and also a recipe for baked panko sweet potato latkes on her blog Food Wanderings.

Please join in by tweeting your #Weekendeats at us Monday morning @latimesfood and share your photos with us in our “Weekend eats” gallery. We’ll feature some of the photos here on Daily Dish, so be sure to check back for more #Weekendeats and #Foodporn throughout the week.

Hope to see everyone next Monday morning on Twitter! It’s sure to be a drool-worthy good time.
