Rum tasting in Pasadena, Ray’s and Stark Bar turns 2, brunch at A.O.C.

Rum Tasting: On Thursday, the Armory Center for the Arts is hosting a rum tasting at Everson Royce from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees will sample a spectrum of rums from light to dark and young to old, all served straight, in addition to rum-based cocktails crafted by Talmadge Lowe of Pharmacie LA. The rum tasting costs $45 per person; a portion of the proceeds will go to supporting the Armory Center for the Arts. Reservations can be made by calling (626) 765-9334. 155 N. Ray’s and Stark Bar turns 2: Acclaimed restaurant Ray’s and Stark Bar at LACMA will be celebrating its second birthday with Spanish fare on March 5. From 7 to 10 p.m., executive chef Kris Morningstar will be cooking paella and mariscos on the restaurant’s patio. For $22 per person, guests can pick up a plate of paella and a cocktail. A.O.C. serves brunch: After settling into its new space, A.O.C. is ready to open up the restaurant for lunch service and will be also offering Angelenos brunch, once again, starting Saturday. Lunch menu items include spaghetti with clams, green garlic, white beans and nettles; grilled hanger steak with roquefort butter, shallots and french fries; and an arugula salad with blood orange, tangerine, dates and pecorino cheese.
