Dunkin’ Donuts eliminates all artificial dyes from doughnuts at US stores

Looks like Dunkin’ Donuts is working hard on their New Year’s resolutions. The doughnut chain has announced that they have removed all artificial dyes from doughnuts being sold in the U.S. and that their parent company, Dunkin’ Brands Group (which owns Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins), plans to remove artificial dyes from all food and beverages on their menus by the end of 2018.

That means that by December of 2018, Dunkin’ Brands will have removed artificial dyes from dunkin’ Donuts icings, fillings, toppings, baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, coffee flavorings, and frozen beverages and from Baskin-Robbins ice cream sold in restaurants and retail locations as well as syrups, sauces, sprinkles, and beverages.

The group’s chief marketing officer, Tony Weisman, explained the move in a press release: “We are pleased to start the New Year with exciting and important donut news for our guests. Eliminating artificial dyes from our donuts is an incredible milestone moment for a fun brand whose products are synonymous with bright, colorful confections.”

“After years of research and development, we are thrilled to be taking such a big step in providing guests with simpler ingredients while still delivering the delicious taste and vivid colors expected with our donuts.”
