Right before the holidays is as good a time as any to practice deep breathing. (Goda Yoga)

The spirit of giving, transformational breathwork and a stylish fitness-gear shopping event are all on hand as we head into the holiday season.

Bring a new sleeping bag to donate at a free yoga class in Santa Monica on Dec. 3. The event is a collaboration between Reach & Root, a community based yoga group (participants pay whatever they wish to for classes) and Yoga Wake Up, an audio app for yoga, stretching and meditation. The two-hour event includes a vinyasa class and meditation. The sleeping bags are earmarked for Safe Place for Youth, a drop-in center for young homeless people in Venice.

For the fitness buff who wants to look good while working out: luxury activewear retailer Carbon38 has opened a pop-up shop offering exclusive pieces for stylish workouts, like ski pants and performance tights from Adidas by Stella McCartney. From now until the end of January, shoppers are greeted with a glass of champagne before they peruse the offerings, many made of technical activewear (like the red or green leggings that look like they've been coated in wax).

Info: Carbon38 pop-up shop, 110 Robertson Blvd. Open until Jan. 31. carbon38.com
