Fixing those broken new year’s resolutions -- even when you’re 9

One way to help folks keep their new year’s resolutions is to hold them accountable -- even if they’re 8 or 9. That’s what a children’s museum in Maryland is doing as part of an ongoing monthly program to help kids and parents keep their healthy-eating promises.

“A children’s museum may seem an unlikely place to come to boost your health, but that makes it all the more effective,” Nora Moynihan, director of education and community enrichment at Port Discovery Children’s Museum in Baltimore, says in this Baltimore Sun story. “We’re a place that’s not preachy about it.”

So what do the kids think? Jessica Balick Goodman, 9, in the accompanying video shares her struggle to keep her new year’s resolution not to drink soda. “When I went to my friend’s house, I had a lot of stuff I shouldn’t have been having ... like soda,” she admits.

And if your resolutions have already tanked, here’s a chance for a do-over. Make new ones for Chinese New Year, which is celebrated through Feb. 17. These examples from LunarNews can get you started.

But this time, show a bit more commitment.
