7 L.A. shopping events moms will enjoy for Mother’s Day

What does mom really want for Mother’s Day? Besides a vacation? Why not show her some love by bringing her along as you shop at one of several independent events held in Los Angeles this weekend. From locally grown bouquets to custom butcher blocks and colorful planters, there is much to choose from. Here’s a quick roundup:

Saturday: Garden store Potted hosts a family-friendly planting event on Saturday that is open to kids and moms alike. The Atwater Village store will set up potting tables and will have everything you need to create a custom planter including vessels, soil, rocks, plants and succulents. Feel free to bring your own personal items to add too. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 3158 Los Feliz Blvd., Los Angeles. The potting bar is free with a fee charged for items.

Saturday: Alchemy Works in downtown Los Angeles is offering one-of-a-kind flower bouquets by Bloom That for $50, jewelry and gifts by Boudov Designs, RODIN, Gabriela Artigas and more. 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. 826 E. 3rd St., downtown Los Angeles.

Saturday: Good Eye Gallery presents the exhibition “Ode to the Motherlode” in partnership with the L.A.-based website Momstamp.com. Works by female artists such as photographer Darcy Hemley and painter Tasha Kusama will examine “how women maintain a creative life” while juggling the demands of parenting. Saturday-Sunday: Designers Rachel Craven and Beatrice Valenzuela have once again expanded their Echo Park Craft Fair to include a second stage at Mack Sennett Studios. Shop for perfumes and natural beauty products at the new beauty and wellness lounge while photographer Nancy Neil sets up a Mothers Day family portrait studio. As always, the event will include handmade pottery, home goods, jewelry and clothing by local artists. The event will also feature food and beverages and a new cocktail lounge with hand-crafted beverages. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mack Sennett Studios, 1215 Bates Ave., Silver Lake. Admission: $8.

Saturday-Sunday: The Unique USA spring independent craft market returns to the California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles, where designers and artists will sell clothing, jewelry, housewares, artisan food and more. The event includes free DIY craft projects, photo booth portraits and a baby-changing station and lounge. On Mother’s Day, moms will receive a free flower from BloomNation while supplies last. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the California Market Center, 110 E. 9th St. Admission: $10 at the door (cash only). Kids 12 and younger are free. Unlimited reentry for both days.

Saturday-Sunday: Otherwild in Echo Park will host Lemon & Louise for a Mother’s Day pop-up flower shop, with bouquets starting at $25. On Sunday, Leaven Bakery will offer free cookies. noon to 5 p.m. Saturday; noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, 1932 Echo Park Ave.

Sunday: On Mother’s Day, take 15% off all Bauer Pottery ceramics at the May showroom sale. In addition, all Bauer vases and garden pots are 20% off through May 11. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. 3051 Rosslyn St.
