Show Spotlight: Chevrolet SS

Share

Chevy’s first V-8 rear-wheel-drive performance sedan since the mid-1990s, the SS is a street stallion with racing DNA. “The Chevrolet brand was largely built on the strength of rear-drive performance sedans, yet it’s been 17 years since we’ve offered one,” said Mark Reuss, president of General Motors North America. “The all-new Chevrolet SS fills that void and fills it better than any other vehicle in the brand’s rich history.”

This beauty proves that four doors and “for fun” are no longer mutually exclusive; while its roomy rear seat goes beyond the call of duty, the SS boasts a thrusting V-8 motor and racetrack-ready handling, due in large part to 50/50 weight distribution, a low center of gravity and StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control. Bolting from 0 to 60 in around five seconds, the SS is one of the swiftest sedans on the street — good thing its burly Brembo brakes come standard.
