Oregon shooting: In initially printed copies of the Oct. 2 Section A, an article about the shooting at a community college in Oregon referred to the attacker as a 20-year-old and said that authorities had provided no details about him. That was all that was known at the section’s starting press time. In later copies of Section A, and as reported in an article in the California section, which has a later deadline, the gunman was identified as 26-year-old Chris Harper Mercer.

Energy consumption: In the Oct. 1 California section, an article about a new energy consumption mapping website said that per-capita consumption in the city of Avalon was 5 BTU in 2010. The correct number is 5 million BTU.
