Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near San Juan Bautista, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Friday evening two miles from San Juan Bautista, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 8:44 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was seven miles from Prunedale, Calif., and 121 miles from Sacramento.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
