Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Mammoth Lakes, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Thursday afternoon 6 miles from Mammoth Lakes, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 5:44 p.m. PDT at a depth of 6.8 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 72 miles from Clovis, Calif., 75 miles from Sanger, Calif. and 78 miles from Reedley, Calif.

In the past 10 days, there have been three earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
