Earthquake: 2.9 quake strikes near Idyllwild
A shallow magnitude 2.9 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning six miles from Idyllwild, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 4:41 a.m. PDT at a depth of 8.1 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 10 miles from Valle Vista and 14 miles from Hemet.
In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
