The Coast Guard rescued three boaters from the ocean off Carlsbad on Thursday after their 19-foot boat began sinking and its bilge pumps failed.
The three men were able to send out a distress call from their boat, the Sasquatch, about 2 p.m. before donning their lifejackets and going into the water, the Coast Guard said.
The Coast Guard dispatched an MH-60 Jayhawk and the 110-foot cutter Edisto from the San Diego station. The three were plucked from the water about a mile off the coast and taken back to Oceanside Harbor without injury.
A crew from the San Diego Fire & Rescue Department was able to dewater the Sasquatch and tow it to the harbor.
